The SpectRx™ Near Infrared System acquires spectra between 4000 to 12000 Wave Numbers, or 830 to 2500 manometers. The spectra illustrated below were taken from five different tablets of the same production lot. The acquired data indicate that the five tablets are in good conformity with the acceptable limits set for production run. The presence of each chemical composition of each tablet is represented by a range of wave-numbers. The quantitative values of the chemical composition are measured by the energy level reflected or absorbed as illustrated.
SpectRx™ NIR - Measures Hardness, Disintegration and Chemical Compositions
The SpectRxä Near Infrared System acquires and analyzes the spectrum of each tablet or capsule and determines its acceptability with respect to certain production control limits. The chemical compositions of each tablet/capsule, which passes under the probe are analyzed and measured. Also, the SpectRxä NIR system measures the hardness and disintegration of each tablet at a rate of 160 objects per second using a dual probe system or 80 scans per second using a single probe system.
Foreign or unacceptable capsules or tablets are automatically rejected by using an “electro-pneumatic” rejection system.”
A production screen is developed to illustrate acceptable tablets passing under the NIR probe. The required data are displayed on the same screen and can be continuously stored in a peripheral storage media.
